Causes of Pregnancy Back Pain
What causes the back pain in pregnancy?
Every women's cirumstances are different but there are some general reasons.
First off, you are gaining weight and the weight is pushing and pulling on your body in new ways, especially in your spine and pelvis and rib cage. Also your legs tend to be farther apart to help you carry the weight, so your center of gravity is different and your walking is different - creating more stress on your body. The new weight that you are carrying can also compress the vertebrae in your spine a bit, which some women will experience as pain or discomfort. Research has also shown that the hormones that your body releases during pregnancy, especially near the final trimester, relax and soften your ligaments and bones. And that makes sense doesn't it? Evolution (or god depending on your beliefs) has programmed your body to make the process of giving birth - manageable (if not easy).
All in all, your body has some good reasons to feel cranky and give you some pain. Although, again, not everyone will have the pain. So what do you do for it? Suffer in silence? Let's talk about pregnancy back pain relief.
